Job Description

Essential Functions:

Negotiate rates to customers needing transportation or cold storage services. Rates are usually given over the phone or via email. Work with internal resources to prepare all information needed for quoting in a timely manner.

Expedite solicitation of business through cold calling, phone prospecting and networking. Compose freight rates for specific points the customer is interested in. Establish new customers, growth in the business and continually look for revenue opportunities. First point of contact when meeting customers at J&B when cold storage and transportation is involved.

Bill orders that are cross docked at J&B manually. Send out bills for truck load shipments that are redistributed to several customers. Track revenue for freight customers and both cold storage facilities of St. Michael and Albert Lea.

Serve as the back up to other positions within the department periodically. Assist the Customer Service Logistics with data entry as needed. Assess customer business potential, and help schedule and organize appointments.

Answer customer service calls. Questions can include order shipping, invoice inquiries, mis-ships, etc. Handle incoming calls for all customers that may call in and be a valuable resource for problem resolution, load tracking and collection on invoices. Sign off on invoices for Third Party services that are hired out. Some examples include High Track, Priority, WW Johnson, etc.

Send inventory listings to cold storage customers. First point of contact to ensure J&B inventories are matching with customer inventories. Manage daily load activities through discussion with customers and carriers to ensure superior customer service.

Other duties as assigned. Performs special projects or assignments as directed by Director of Logistics.

Essential Skills:

Analysis/Problem Solving:Prioritize miscellaneous warehousing and logistics concerns including mis-ships, scheduling trucks to and from J&B, and pallet issues.

Decision Making: New freight rates and negotiations are made independently of the Director, but always maintain open communication.
