Community members are invited to bring their food donations for CROSS Services to the “Stuff the Truck” event 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Word of Peace Lutheran Church parking lot in Rogers. Donations will be accepted by the WJ Bradley truck.
“There is much to be thankful for, but unfortunately many in the community are struggling just to put food on the table,” said Heidi Haaland, Rogers resident and realtor for Keller Williams Classic Realty NW. “Because it is local, I like to try to do things for CROSS when I can.”
Haaland, along with Mona Edick, organized the event. “When people get mortgages through Mona, she allows them to use her moving truck for free, which is how we came up with ‘Stuff the Truck’,” said Haaland.
Word of Peace in Rogers is partnering with Haaland and Edick and suggested Nov. 9 for “Stuff the Truck” as part of their week of giving. The church shared the event with the Word of Peace community by announcing it during services, hanging flyers, and sending flyers home with Sunday School children. Word of Peace is located at 21705 129th Ave. N, Rogers.
Last year, CROSS provided approximately 667,000 pounds of food to individuals and families in need living in the communities of Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo, Rogers and west Champlin.
During the “Stuff the Truck” event, donations in greatest need for CROSS currently are:
