From 1991 through 1993, Feldman pursued research for her PhD thesis, supported by a fellowship from the Ministry of the Flemish Community. In her early career, she served as director of the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art in Tennessee. She also received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the Memphis College of Art in 2008.
