Chalk Walk Art Event 2012
This sidewalk chalk walk art event —a community art project — is being sponsored by the Fine Arts Council of St. Michael-Albertville, Shop Saint Michael and the Friends of the St. Michael Library.
Each child who participates will be given his or her own block of cement in front of the St. Michael City Center on which to color. The theme is “my favorite summer-time activity.” The event is free. Each child who
participates will be entered in a drawing for generous prizes from local businesses. The event sponsors also will be handing out fun, free gifts the day of the event, to thank each child for participating. The lovely sidewalk chalk art will be preserved with a sealant to last for viewing during the Daze and Knights festival.
Here’s what you need to know: Upon arrival, please visit the sign-in table at the front/south entrance of the St. Michael City Center. Volunteers will be on hand to assist children in getting started. A child may have his or her own block to color. This year, families/friends may work on a bigger sidewalk block together, if they wish. We encourage children of all ages to participate. The blocks will be numbered so that you can find your spot. Sidewalk chalk will be provided, or you may bring your own. Sidewalk chalk only can be used.
Come, have fun, draw with your family, get some chalk on your hands...and let’s make art as a community!
